Easy-Going Festive Edit

Christmas Day is on the horizon, with New Year's Eve parties following. Yes, this time of year is undoubtedly the best time to have fun with your wardrobe. I automatically associate seasonal edits with sequins, tinsel, bows and velvet, yet I also associate this time of year with regretful purchases and high-cost-per-wear items. Some of these, although beautiful pieces, end up shoved at the back of my wardrobe, never to see the light of day again.
Not to mention the practicality of some of these pieces, for instance, a full ruby red sequin dress is not something I would reach for during the year. And if you are anything like myself, these pieces aren't even practical for the festive season they are designed and marketed for.
At the marvellous age of 32, my Christmas will be spent in the comfort of my own home and with close family. My grandmother would giggle at even the thought of me sitting at my dinner table wearing an extravagant dress whilst my feather cuffs dip into the gravy, grabbing the last Yorkshire pud.
All this being said I am not a complete grinch, and I do indulge in a new outfit this time of year. Mostly to feel fresh and make an effort for the beautiful day that is Christmas.
I have trawled through my saved list on various websites and apps and collated my top easy-going and practical picks for the season. Think comfort and wearability past the season whilst still having a touch of the festivities. I do fall into the cool-toned category this time of year as opposed to the warmer, gold colour palette, and I love black for party wear pieces as it instantly increases an item's wearability.
So, with that all in mind, here is my easy-going-practicle-wearable-festive edit…👀
These trousers from H&M give off a smart look yet are elasticated at the waist (no need to elaborate on why that’s a bonus). This 100% wool cardigan from Arket is a staple in itself; it gives off cosy vibes whilst still looking put together. Finish the look with these adorable bow ballet flats from H&M and these silver flower drop earrings from M&S. Elevate the look by popping on a red lip!
This whole outfit gives off a festive look whilst still being comfortable, and I would certainly get wear out of each piece throughout the year.
Moving onto slightly more elevated pieces. Starting strong with this black mini dress from Arket that has a beautiful bow feature on the back. (I purchased this one for New Year's Eve.) Paired with this cute bag from John Lewis. They stock this one all year around, and I feature this any chance I get! This long dress from John Lewis is actually navy, but I love the fluid, relaxed shape of this piece, and It is highly rated online! Moving onto the perfect ‘fancy top and jeans’ option is this one-shoulder number from M&S. It is Reasonably priced and would be a great party wear piece for your wardrobe.
Last but not least, this beautiful co-ord from H&M. I love a co-ord for the impact it has when worn together, but I love that you can wear these pieces separately for a completely different look. Speaking of versatility, this ruched blouse from Ghospell has been beautifully styled online with leopard print pants and drop earrings, creating the perfect party look, but this blouse would look incredible during the warmer months paired with loose linen pants or a bias cut skirt. The perfect piece to adapt to your needs during the year. Finishing these looks off with another great pair of earrings from M&S. The organic shape and high shine make these a beautiful choice.
