High-Street to High-End Picks.

As much as I want to hold on to summer, the constant rain this past week has forced me to think about my autumn wardrobe. I have some incredible staple pieces that come out this time every year but there’s no harm in a little window shopping now and then.

Here are my top 5 picks from high street to high end for the upcoming season;

Alexander McQueen’s Sling Bag - £1750.00

If you’ve read my previous articles, you’ll be well aware that McQueen is my favourite designer of all time. The house was recently taken over by Sean McGirr. Since then, I’ve enjoyed the new campaigns and have been waiting for a star piece to be launched. The wait is over with the release of the new Sling bag.

With its unique design being this asymmetrical take, I was instantly hooked. I also love the buckle, also though it may prove impractical, it reminds me of the early McQueen shows where watch chains would featured on garments as a nod to McQueen’s love of the Victorian era (mistaken as tampon strings in the press, which they slated him for).

The shape itself is slightly reminiscent of the puzzle bag by Loewe but less fussy and it features a very adjustable strap, making it perfect for all year round. This strap also means it’s great for Autumn, as the adjustments allow you to fit it over a coat. Sign me up for the cranberry shade immediately.

Ganni Punk Ballet Flats - £325.00

We are no strangers to ballet flats, especially if you’re from my era, the 90’s. Recently they’ve made a huge comeback and Ganni have done a few of their own takes but this most recent version has caught my eye. The Eyelet Bow flats are the latest Ganni offering and they are set to sell out instantly.

With their cool girl style, helped by the punky metal grommets around the edge and the cute but edgy bow, these flats are practical but comfy. My favourites are the denim version, but they also come in patent black and red, very Dorothy.

Cos Jacket - £115.00

The new Cropped Double-Faced Hybrid jacket by Cos had me swooning when I spotted it recently in the Edinburgh store while away for my birthday. I love nothing more than a simple yet unique cut, a piece that’s easy to wear but has a twist. This jacket does just that.

With its interesting cut and wearable style, this jacket is a no-brainer. I think it will be so easy to place over most outfits and will elevate any jeans and top combo. It’s on my autumn wish list.

Louis Vuitton Aspen Clogs - £815.00

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these in store. Perhaps the most ‘marmite’ item on this list but a winner for me nonetheless. Imagine crispy cold yet sunny days, mooching around the streets with these on your feet, a thick pair of socks and an outfit covered by a cosy coat. What bliss.

I’ve gone for the suede (not the best for autumn but will carry me through to spring) with the monogram strap but these beauties also come in blue denim, beige denim and puffer nylon black. Choose your fighter.

Zara Soft Knit Cardigan - £29.99

Bringing us (and our bank balances) right back down to earth is this simple cardigan from Zara. As I previously mentioned, I love versatile items with a twist and this cardigan will be so easy to wear yet with those side slits, it has an edge.

I love how you can wear this buttoned-up as a jumper, over a top that peeks through the slits at the side or undone with a cami underneath for an evening out. The blue shade is perfect for this time of year when we are still wishing for sunshine but all we get is rain. Perfect for brightening up any outfit.
