Indyx - a Digital Wardrobe App Like No Other.

Ever since we gazed our glistening eyes upon Cher’s wardrobe in awe at the conceptualised tech of the 90s rom-com Clueless, digitalised wardrobes have been a wishful dream of many. Over the years as technology developed, we were gifted an abundance of digital wardrobe platforms, all gaining popularity within the fashion community, but now there is a new kid in town; launching in 2021, founders Yidi Cambell and Devon Rule introduced us to Indyx, the digital wardrobe like no other.

In an effort to tackle overproduction and work towards breaking the cycle of overconsumption, Yidi and Devon are reintroducing us to our wardrobes, inspiring us whilst encouraging us to make better consumer decisions. Helping us curate a wardrobe and refine our style - they promise to ‘unlock the potential of what you already own’.

For me, the first introductions to the platform came early this year through a collaboration with Stylist, Youtuber and Published Author of ‘The Home Edit’, Anna Newton. Known for her minimalist, organic style, and Virgo queen of organisation, her stamp of approval is one you can take to the bank.

Not only a user and advocate for the app, but Anna has been working closely with the development team as somewhat of an ‘adviser’, developing new app features that offer useful insights into our wardrobes that go beyond your usual ‘cost-per-wear’; giving us a logistic visual of the success of our purchases, a data fanatics dream.

Cataloguing our wardrobes comes with countless benefits, re-imaging and re-wearing what we own is a central part of Indyx’s core values, and making this process as convenient as possible is how this app has succeeded.

Uploading your wardrobe is uncomplicated and admittedly, quite an enjoyable evening. The category feature enables you to quickly tag your newly uploaded items, easily allowing you to find what you're looking for when creating new outfits.

As a confessed fan of an outfit ‘selfie’, the calendar view feature is a personal favourite, it’s a great way to see an overview of your monthly outfit rotations and quickly refer back to one you enjoyed wearing.

Speaking of which, another new feature worth mentioning is the option of adding a ‘note’ to your outfits, this comes in handy when an outfit doesn’t quite cut the mustard, a particular t-shirt made you feel confident, or maybe those pants require a more inconspicuous underwear choice; great for those mental notes that tend not to stick.

A bonus feature of Indyx is the useful ‘collections’ tool. This feature allows you to select particular items from your wardrobe and create outfits from those chosen pieces, as suggested in the app, this is a great way to curate a workwear capsule wardrobe or packing list for a trip away.

But, if styling your wardrobe isn’t your forte Indyx offer an in-house styling service. Their curated selection of stylists ranges from Anna Newton herself to India Cardona, providing you with a personalised lookbook with new ways to wear your wardrobe.

As I envelop myself into the app, check back soon for an update on how I get on. In the meantime, check out Indyx for yourself, available on the App Store, and Google Play.
