I don’t know about you but I am ready to ditch these layers. My current outfit rotation is starting to become a bit repetitive and I’m ready to inject some fresh items to revitalise my current wardrobe. Transitional items can sometimes be a little tricky but my rule of thumb is to ensure new pieces can easily adapt with a few outfit tweaks from season to season.

My inspiration for this season has come from a want to inject some colour and whilst not always recommended, also allow myself to lean into some trend pieces. When collating my saved outfits on Instagram and Pinterest board it highlighted a few repeat offenders.

One is the colour Blue. As much as I enjoy the red trend I feel the colour blue is a more subtle way to inject a bit of interest into an outfit, especially in this soft tone. It feels fresh and bright, a little bit of dopamine dressing for the season.

Secondly, the Adidas Gazelle in pink. As mentioned in my editor’s top picks for February, they are still living rent-free. The instant spring update these will add to any outfit makes these an instant yes for me.

To balance out that pop of colour, I'm drawn to classic pieces in neutral tones. Denim moves out of the indigo zone and into a lighter wash and I love the idea of updating your classic loafer in a creamy/off-white tone.

Lighter layering pieces are a no-brainer, but this season we will be seeing a lot of suede making its way into our wardrobes. It’s been a while since adding suede into my wardrobe and this seems like the perfect way to try something new. Particularly in a soft beige, it makes this a versatile option.

Lastly; tailoring always makes an appearance in my wardrobe but I want to update mine into a lighter colour palette. Again, soft neutrals or cool-toned greys make each piece easy to style, separately or together.

Now that I have my list, here are my top 10 items that I will be adding to my wardrobe this season and how I would style them!

This grey-tailored suit from Marks and Spencer is a great base for spring. To keep it casual, I have paired it with a monochromatic printed t-shirt that’s new from Ganni.

Tip- I would size up a few sizes in the Blazer.

Adding in that pop of colour through accessories livens up the outfit without being too overwhelming. This for me is where those trend pieces come in!

The pop of pink in the Gazelle’s just peeking out the bottom of those trousers is a perfect balance. This Ripple bag from COS in blue may be a bit of a marmite piece, but the fashion girlies during Copenhagen Fashion Week have spoken. Thrown over crossbody, it’s effortless and practical whilst adding interest to an outfit. Ticks all the boxes for me.

Starting with another classic base are these light-wash, loose-fit denim jeans from Arket. Pair with any basic tee you have in your wardrobe as this jacket is the main event.

Tip - always check the men’s sections when shopping; you will always find a hidden gem.

This imitation suede jacket from H&M men’s comes in under £50.00. Alternatively; I would scout your local second-hand spots as you are sure to find an amazing real suede piece for a good price.

As I did before, I’m adding in those unexpected accessories. Both from COS, the pop of blue in the choice of socks, paired with the white loafer is a fresh seasonal update to a winter wardrobe staple of mine. Lastly, these large framed glasses from Arket complement those warmer neutral tones in the jacket. Perfect for those sunny days we are longing for!
