The Party Edit

December is undoubtedly a social month. Office parties, Cocktails with friends, family get-togethers and one hell of a party to bring in the new year! It's a great time to have some fun with your outfits. Nothing is too glam for this time of year.

When we hear Christmas party wear it can lead us down a dangerous path of sequined blouses, tinsel dresses and festive velvets. The type of outfits that are confined to the months of December, the ones you ‘put away’ and promise to wear again next Christmas.

We want longevity when adding new items to our wardrobe. Outfits we want to re-wear outside of this season, think Weddings, date nights and girls’ night out.

OUR TOP PICKS

Not shying away from the festivities we can still add in that shine without glitter and sequins. Silver and chrome are still on trend and it works great for this time of year.

£129.00 - BUY

This Chrome Blazer from Never Fully Dressed is a great option. For the festivities, size up and pair with a LBD and a red lip.

£35.99 - BUY

I adore these chrome pointed court shoes from Zara. Affordable and a perfect shoe option this season. Pair with tailoring, a slinky cami and silver shimmer on the eyes.

To re-wear these without the outfit leaning festive, allow the chrome pieces to be the focal point of your outfit; combine them with jeans and a tee.

Feathers are my kryptonite. I am tempted every year by the abundance of feathery options on the high street but I always knew my purchase would ultimately land in the festive pile alongside my Christmas jumpers, never to be seen again. The inevitable fate of overly festive attire, however,  this year Kitri Studio have nailed the brief.

£165.00 - BUY

In a rich indigo shade, the colour is a perfect iteration of jewel tones for the season - leaning away from ruby and emerald it instantly ups its wearability outside of the festivities. The feathers are just enough to make a statement without overdoing it. An option you can get away with wearing throughout the year - Its giving cocktails with the girls.

An obviously popular choice this year, Sign up for their notifications as Kitri often restocks popular pieces! You don’t want to miss it!

Choosing black for the party season is a classic choice. Simple, chic and versatile. Easily accessorised to work in any scenario is the type of garment we want in our wardrobe.

image via & Other Stories

£75.00 - BUY

This black smocked top from & Other Stories is the perfect ‘fancy top’ option. The subtle sheen to the fabric, smocking and frilled peplum give this the right amount of festive drama we are looking for. Style it this season with Straight-leg dark denim, pointed court shoes and your choice of statement earrings.

For a year-round date night option pair it with jeans, ballet flats and a smokey eye.

£75.00 - BUY

A slinky cami option falls into your basics category. This version from COS gives a bit more with its asymmetrical lace detailing. This type of piece will lend itself to its adaptability. Pair with other wardrobe staples like tailoring, heeled boots or denim. Allow your choice of accessories to finish this look.

A good way to update your wardrobe this Christmas without breaking the bank or buying a whole new outfit is by adding on an accessory… or two. This season is all about the glitz and glamour.

Mango and COS have some stand-out pieces that caught my eye this season. Again I am all about the silver and chrome this year. Leaning away from gold makes these pieces look less festive and more expensive, which is exactly what we want. When wedding season rolls around you will be thankful for that statement accessory.

I love a pair of statement earrings and these give the right amount of sparkle without feeling tacky. Pair with a crisp white shirt and a bold red lip.

This necklace is a statement piece without being too demanding. Allow this necklace to breathe and pair it with a cami slip dress and an oversized blazer draped over your shoulders.

Chefs kiss!

I adore a hair accessory at Christmas, but please step away from the velvet! This headband from & Other Stories looks effortless and chic. Pair with no other accessories, a LBD and a pair of sparkly tights.

£267.00 - BUY

Bows have started to make an appearance this year and I am here for it. These earrings scream festive subtlety. A charming piece of jewellery that will go with anything. These sterling silver bow earrings from Meadow Lark would be a great addition to your jewellery box.

To achieve the same look and if you want something a bit more cheap and cheerful, then this pair from En Route are a beautiful option.
