As a personal stylist, I actively encourage my clients to think about how they can use their favourite staple items all year round. The denim midi skirt is one of those, and I am so pleased to see it featured in Winter collections to prove its transeasonal appeal. As we are still wrapping up in cosy knits and lots of layers, let me show you how to style the denim midi skirt as the ultimate all-year-round essential and defy the cold with stylish flair.

Look one

Classically feminine with a bit of edge, this super chic ensemble demonstrates how to elevate your basics with interesting accessories. The lovely rich olive green paired with the bold blue denim is a match made in heaven and tonally complements the cream coat and brown handbag. Let’s not forget to take a moment for the rib-knit socks and chunky loafer paring - the ultimate classy-girl combo.

Look two

Time to have some fun with colour! I am all for classic pieces in neutral tones that you can wear again and again, but when it comes to accessories and outerwear, this is where you can inject some of your personality through bold and brilliant colours. Harmonising the tones here is key to ensure the colour combination appears effortlessly put together and visually pleasing. A combination of tonal stripes is also a fun way to add personality to a look as demonstrated in this outfit. Don’t forget to apply your lipstick for an extra pop of colourful character!

look three

This sophisticated outfit is perfect for those of you who like to add stylish details in a more subtle manner. Check out the beautifully curved heel on the boots alongside the fully zippable knitted slipover, it is clear that every element is considered and this creates a more refined look. The red handbag adds an additional element of trend but keeps the styling civilised. A spritz of your favourite perfume and you are good to go!
