Lighter blazer

In colour and/or material. I love linen blazers for the warmer months but that’s a gap in my wardrobe at the minute, I may be on the lookout for one. I also love lighter-coloured blazers, now we can ditch our big coats it’s so nice to be out and about in a beige blazer with a tonal outfit for spring!

Lighter tailored trousers

I love lighter-coloured tonal outfits in spring (often accessorising with black items), and having some tailored trousers that mix and match with different items will serve you well in spring. Either dressed up with heels, with trainers for a casual look or ballet flats for a smarter finish.

Trench coat

Would it even be spring essentials without featuring a trench coat? They’re a classic. Although I love different takes on a classic trench, I have a navy one that I love and also a cropped one too! There’s definitely a trench out there for everyone this year.

Satin skirt

My Arket satin skirts are probably the hardest working items in my wardrobe for every occasion, all year round. I couldn’t love them more for adding a feminine touch to a relaxed look with trainers or being an easy go-to for a dressy occasion when I want to shop my own wardrobe. Lighter-shade skirts are a perfect addition to a spring wardrobe!

Heavyweight Basic T-shirts

A good quality T-shirt is so important, I reach for mine so much in spring to go under lighter blazers or a trench coat, you really need one that washes well. The COS ones are the best I’ve ever had, I’ve had them for so long, worn them to death and they’re still as good as new!

Ballet flats

I honestly don’t know what I wore before I became obsessed with ballet flats last year?! They pretty much don’t leave my feet. They look so chic and smart while being comfortable (if you get the right ones!).

Light coloured trainers

There seems to be a theme of everything in light colours here, doesn’t there?! Black will always be my favourite colour but I just love beige tones in spring. Having lighter-coloured trainers will fit seamlessly into your wardrobe to brighten up your looks, in the hope the days will be brighter too…

Light-coloured ‘fits everything in’ bag

This was missing from my wardrobe until recently, and it’s really helped me style more tonal outfits for spring. If you’re like me and need to carry around everything but the kitchen sink for work, a chic bag that does just that is essential. I only had a black one and was really tied to accessorising with black, so this has been such a good addition!

A cardigan / cropped jacket

If you live in England, you’ll know spring (and usually summer) is still quite chilly. I love that we can still layer though, cropped jackets and cardi’s are so good to wear with skirts, trousers etc. Cardigans are even good base layers underneath trenches and blazers too if need be.

A pair of jeans

As a midsize girl, I’m very new to finding great-fitting pairs of jeans, but now I have I can’t stop reaching for them. Especially with ballet flats, cardi’s, light blazers etc. They’re so good for spring!

I hope you enjoyed my top 10 spring essential recommendations. They’re the fundamental capsule wardrobe pieces for me, but styling is so important too. Having a good pair of sunglasses you love, a gold hardware belt and gold everyday hoops are things I’d include on the list if I could go beyond 10 things!
