Paint The Town Red

The Autumn season is upon us and what an exciting time it is to get dressed.

Taking notes from Fall 23 Ready-to-Wear Runway shows, you can evidently spot the trend of the season. Cherry Red, Rich Burgundy and Red Wine huges are woven throughout the collections.

From the vibrant red sequined babydoll dress by Ganni, brave tailoring from Stella McCartney and bold knitwear from Bottega Veneta. You can go as daring as you please. Presenting crimson gowns; Balenciaga, Fendi and Valentino's Fall 23 Couture show gave the red carpet a worthy contender.

Other brands utilized the impact of subtlety, opting for smaller pops of red or deeper shades of crimson - Baum und Pferdgarten styled looks with red leather gloves, shoes and hair accessories.

Miu Miu takes the trend up a notch. Showcasing pointed slingback pumps that blur the line between trend and potential cult classification.

A trend such as this is habitually exciting. With trend lifecycles shortening it's a welcoming craze. Coined as an ‘accessible trend’, it allows easy implementation and encourages every fashion enthusiast to dip their toe in without the potential of financial risk on investment pieces.

Not being constrained to a particular purchasable item allows further experimentation amongst various style aesthetics. From ‘Quiet Luxury’ to ‘Dopamine Dressing’, it's easy to incorporate this trend within our current outfit rotations. Unlike this year's beloved Adidas Sambas or last season's admired Prada Loafer - it's a trend that can truly adhere to your own personal style.

As our consumer mindset and shopping habits shift away from short-term and trend-led purchases, remaining on trend and conscious can be somewhat difficult to navigate. The ‘Red’ trend is not subject to a particular era of fashion and retrospectively nor is it an unlikely colour palette for the season. Ultimately, this means shopping preloved can surprisingly be a straightforward process.

Similarly, we also see this trend falling favourably into the beauty sphere. In the right shade of red; a manicure or bold lip is a cost-effective, considered and subtle way to update a look.

New and emerging trends are always unpredictable and in this case potentially intimidating. If the process of introducing a bold colour into a tonal or capsule wardrobe creates unease, opt for an accessory in a rich warm tone that leans neutral; Burgandy, Mahogany and Maroon are undemanding and will elevate any look.

Opting for brighter shades such as Scarlet, Crimson and True Red will ultimately help achieve a bold statement and create a focal point in an ensemble. We can see great examples of this being executed perfectly with bold red knitwear or a pair of ballet flats.

You will be ready to paint the town red in no time.
