Summer is here bringing along some of our beloved makeup trends, including the classic no-makeup makeup, clean girl aesthetic and a summer 24 exclusive ‘sunset blush’. For a blush lover like me, I’m all for this one!

We all know how important it is to care for your skin, especially in the summer months. And let's remember the care of our planet. I have put together a guide with some products from Sephora.com that serve both so that you can create these perfect summer looks… you’re welcome!

Luckily for you, SEPHORA has embraced the clean and planet-positive movement, recognising the positive impact planet-friendly beauty has on our planet.  All products with a clean seal are free from harsh chemicals making it easier to spot these as you shop. Created by brands that have put efforts into following climate goals, using sustainable sourcing and redesigning packaging to cut down on single-use and focus on recycling.

Now let's talk products and techniques…

No-Makeup Makeup

As trends evolve, enhancing our natural features with minimalistic makeup remains timeless. We’ve all heard the saying ‘work smarter not harder’ and by using fewer products in a more strategic way you can create the perfect everyday wear makeup.

SEPHORA has a wide selection of skincare products varying from many of our beloved brands under their clean seal and with any makeup look, starting with the right skin care is key to creating a perfect base. Use the Caudalie Vinosun lightweight moisturiser. Highly praised as a perfect primer for under foundation, with a lightweight formula and added SPF benefits it is the perfect summer moisturizer!

For a natural complexion use the HAUS LABS  Triclone Skin Tech foundation and HAUS LABS concealer. I find that lightly buffing it in with a brush and then dabbing it over with a damp beauty blender gives a more natural skin-like appearance. You don't want to hide your beautiful skin so go in lightly and layer up in areas where you may need to even out the skin tone.

To complete your complexion use the Nude Stix Nudies 3 pc Set. Because even though we’re opting for a no makeup-makeup look we don’t have to look flat. Take a fluffy brush, such as the SEPHORA COLLECTION Multitasker Brush and gently apply the matte bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks and the outer edges of your jawline and forehead.  Then lightly apply the blush stick to bring colour back to the cheeks and finish by dabbing on the highlighter with your finger to achieve a glowy, not overly dewy, look.

Use the KOSAS Cloud Set Powder powder in more oily/shiny areas and spray MILK Makeup Hydro Grip Setting Spray to melt the base together and for all-day wear.

Brows play an important role in defining our face shape so we don't want to forget about them. Take the NUDESTIX Brow Gel and lightly comb through your brow hairs to enhance and hold. For the lashes, I find that waterproof formulas give more length and are great for hotter temperatures in the summer months.

Depending on whether you are a glossy or a matte girly, the SEPHORA Clean Collection has many lip products for you to choose from. My personal favourite, Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm

Clean Girl Makeup

Similar to the no-makeup makeup trend, the clean girl aesthetic emphasizes a less-is-more approach, enhancing our natural features to achieve a healthy, glowing complexion. A highly popular trend that suits everyone and let's be honest who doesn’t want to look their Au Natural best self every day?

To help you achieve the look this summer, I have chosen some Sephora-approved products for you to use.

Starting with the Skin prep I recommend the Glow Recipe Watermelon Dew Drops, loved by many, myself included! Perfectly hydrates the skin and works well as a primer. Use the NudeStix  Nudies Glow All Over Face Color Bronze & Glow to add a highlight to your cheeks, eyes and nose. Followed by the KOSAS creamy and brightening concealer to brighten the under eyes and conceal any uneven skin/blemishes.

MUA Gucci Westman recently shared her top picks for cream and powdered blush with Vogue, one of them being the Ilia Multi Stick. This comes in multiple shades, has multi-tasking benefits for both the cheeks and lips and ingredients like Shea butter that leave the skin moisturized, offering a healthy glow.

One of the bronzers mentioned in the top picks was the  Milk makeup matte bronzer. Travel friendly which is great for summer getaways. Creamy and Blendable with long-lasting staying power.  Build it up where the sun would usually hit (forehead, cheeks, nose and shoulders) for a clean and bronze finish! Apply some of the Kosas concealer under the cheekbones for emphasis.

To complete the clean and snatched looks we want to extend the lashes and add a shine to the lip. Use the Ilia Limitless Lash mascara to lift and extend your natural lashes. For the lips, the Tarte Juicy Lip Plump is a great product to add some colour and enhance the natural shape.

Sunset Blush

Created by Alissa Janay and now trending everywhere is the summer blush trend ‘sunset blush’ I mean who doesn’t love sunset and who doesn’t love a blush moment, the perfect combo!

According to the sunset blush trendsetter herself @Alissajanay the Omega Water The Inkey list creates the perfect base. Tried and tested by yours truly you won't regret this purchase.

On top of a natural complexion, you want to apply the 2 blush shades to your cheekbones following their natural shape. To achieve a sunset-inspired look, start by applying the pink shade first, then blend the orange colour higher on the cheek. Use the Pixi On the Go Blush Sticks in shades 'Juicy' and 'Fleur', they give the perfect colour payoff and compliment all skin tones. To enhance the effect dab highlight on the highest point of the cheekbone. Use the SEPHORA COLLECTION Make it Glow Highlighter in ‘Sunset Shine’ for the ultimate golden hour glow.

Use the liquid highlight on the collar bones for an extra glow and add the Pixi blush to the lips, topped with a HAUS Labs Lip Oil to tie the whole look together!
